First Day of Blog
First Day of Blog ….. Well it may be the first day of this blog but it certainly isn’t the first day of working on property.
This particular one I’m in at the moment is five months into my move in and it’s a bit like this blog at the moment, it’s quite liveable but there’s nothing really been done to it yet.
I felt however it was about time to do something about recording all the good, bad and ugly work I did on a house and this house being a special one I thought I should start sooner than later. Late though it is already.
I’ll get back to some anecdotes about this property, I’ll talk through how I acquired it and I’ll go through what’s already been done, but first of all I’ll have to get the blog running as although I might remember what’s roughly gone on, there’s just no substitution for writing these things up within a couple of days of doing them.
Anyway today has been spent working around the house, doing some website development (this site), identifying some good domain names for this site – using Google Keywords Tool or whatever it’s now called – and buying a couple more into the boot http://www.robotkit.co.uk and http://www.appleitv.co.uk as speculative ventures for the future. The biggest news of the day is that I’ve had my Dunsley Yorkshire multi-fuel burner delivered and it’s now sitting in my potential kitchen diner sporting it’s cardboard box as I intend not to unwrap it till the fireplace fitter arrives. The stove arrived on the afternoon and I took a half day off from work in order to meet it when it arrived, I was taking lunch in the living room, a healthy meal of pot noodle and a half a chocolate muffin, when two men from HomeCare Heating of Darlington arrived. They struggled a bit to get it in and one was a bit out of puff when he finally set it down in the room. The stove seems extraordinarily heavy, as these chaps must be used to delivering these things on a regular basis, I tried to help but I felt I just got in the way, still it looks promising although the box seems to say it has the optional brass handles when I only wanted the black ones. Still it’s looking good and one more job out of the way, I have emailed the fire fitter Anthony Hopper to find out when he can fit it but I’ve yet to hear anything back
Further to my plans I now have a visit from a window estimator next week, I have emails sent to builders asking for meetings and I am also set up with a Valentine’s day visit from the people who renovated the sash windows for Sarah Beeny in her mansion.
I just need to get some shape to this website now.
