Bit busy doing some stuff
Bit busy
I got the £2,000 deposit paid on my windows and also found that they do a design service that’ll all me to see mock up visuals of the final windows before I make the purchase. This’ll be really useful to me as I can’t make my mind up how many Georgian bars to put on the windows at the moment. I know what’s probably authentic (a single top to bottom bar on each sash) but I do like the sashes on which they’re split into four for each sash window. Couple this with what to do with the bays (where I’m keeping the original wooden sashes) and the side windows and French doors and one has a bit of a dilemma on ones hands. I’ve done my own mock-ups but they’re not great and to have a further five weeks and the prospect of some more professional mock-ups to hand then, I’m quite made up.
I transferred some money from my Sainsbury 0% balance transfer credit cards to cover the cash I’d been taking out on my Barclaycard to cover the builders’ costs. I also set a direct debit on the card too.
I found out from HTG that I should have had a “shoe box” of parts delivered, they’d found one that should have been sent out with an order and Matt got in touch to see if it was mine. As I cannot remember seeing a box of bits I told Matt that they more than likely were mine, so he’s sending them over. Just my luck I reckon, I’ve had marvellous service from HTG but my luck on the deliveries hasn’t been too great. With this thought in mind I also enquired if Matt had got around to sending me over some freebies to pacify me after my rather fraught delivery experience. I said that I didn’t know if he’d bolted anything extra to the tank as it was rather an anonymous set of pipes and I couldn’t make head nor tail of it. He informed me that I should have had a free expansion tank and a pipe for the underfloor heating system, again I’d not received it, I informed Matt and without any hesitation he’s booked it to be despatched.
Also got the quotation from Andrew for the tank move and the boiler move and the setting up of the thermal store. I was really not looking forward to this as if it were too much it could have broken me financially. I was really pleased to see that it was an excellent quote, specifically the new fabricated metal tank – plus fitting, piping to boiler and oil move – that came in for less than the cost of a new bunded tank. I told him to get on with it and let me know when it could be done.
I also ordered some gubbins… On Amazon I got a map of my local area, butane, aloe vera gel, Roundup tree stump killer, an external DVD-RW and drive caddy and on another specialist journal site I ordered two rather nice notebooks. All quite excess to my requirements but I thought I should get something more out of the money I’d been given for my birthday than just use it on the house (well apart from the Roundup and the Butane J )
On the way home I picked up another £500 cash for the builder.
Jobs a good un…
The builders have been busy too:
