Builder Progress – Windows now out
Got home very late yet again as I’d visited my folks after work and after a run I’d ran straight after work.
Got home and the pile of rubble looked a bit more meaty, also there were some wooden window frames on the pile and on pulling in the drive there was scaffolding, acro-props and shuttering where my windows had been.
Got in and the windows were out, the acros holding the roof were out and although a bit of the brickwork still remained where the windows had been there was the full feeling of the space that I would enjoy. The window removal had given quite a healthy amount of extra space, basically the walls are so thick that taking them out has aided the footprint of the room a little more.
On closer inspection all the steel lintels, all three of them, have been used above where the windows had been, the whole of the gable end of the house was now suspended on them. Looking a little closer I’m puzzled what they’re going to do to cover up the steels as they’re really really close to the edge of the stonework, also the lintel above the windows is now above the steels so if they face up a stone lintel to cover the steels then it’ll be a lintel on a lintel, if you get my drift. Still I have massive confidence in Ray and his team to get this right and at the moment every evening is like Christmas, getting home and finding a new thing done it’s brilliant.
I do get a bit worried about all the stuff on site, the thieves have been out again and have stolen my coal shovel. I liked my coal shovel it was new and lovely and it wasn’t theirs. I hate thieves they really are not very nice people, anyway my house alarm is going to be soon supplement by cctv, better outhouse doors and locks, a better oil tank, mantraps and a machine gun nest.
