Emergency update
I’ve just had a couple of calls from Andrew.
First was that everything was going fine, the parts had arrived and it was going to cost around £340 more along with £80 for labour, I said fine, get on with it, what must be done must be done.
The next call was more… There’s been an emergency…. EH…… Seems as though the bit of the chimney where Andrew was chipping away to get the pipes in, well it’s under the RSJ’s that are supporting the side of the house – No Shit Sherlock. The walls are cracking, it could be serious, I’m going to brick it up again and pin the pipework on the surface, could you get your builder to hide the pipework with some squared off reveals.
This means more expense and more mucking around, I really should be on site for this but work is the problem here, my thoughts were to go the tricky route out of the back of the fire and up the chimey void, wouldn’t that have been much easier?
Anyway the final bit of the call was then punctuated with “Bill, the electrician wants to speak to you too”… Bugger…. “Bill your wires are rubber”… Double bugger.
Seems that my wires are all not of a specification allowable by standards nowadays and these need to come out. I do like the electrician, we agreed to meet on Thursday morning, see if we could figure something out.
Money money money money…..
Flutter away…..
