I had a busy one
I had a busy one last week.
Turns out busy as it was I had little to show for it on the house renovation stakes.
It was all those jobs that had been lingering in the back of the mind, the jobs that basically must be done but hey wouldn’t be nicer to get that door finished first, or wouldn’t it be much nicer to stand zen-like and look at the walls and consider how to strip and paint them… any manner of not doing e things. Sort of balling ones socks when the tax return must be done – ala Black Books.
Anyway each night involved getting home from work, having a bite to eat and then getting on with the unpleasant tasks in hand. Each night I reckon I finished working at least about one in the morning which wasn’t too good, being school nights, it meant getting up the next day at 6:22, ouchies.
One night it was the sorting out of the credit cards…. a very unpleasant task indeed. It meant going through each and every one of my cards, of which there are quite a few now. Making sure that I’d logged all the details of each of then, that I had online banking, that the PINs had been changed, the balances, the overdraft limits, setting direct debits up, paying off others, swapping around balances, erk just lots of stuff that really hurts to do. Also the application for a new one, this really does hurt.
Another night was going through every receipt, putting them into spreadsheets, divvying up where the money was going, lots of unpleasant and slightly shocking work too.
Then another getting all my blogs up to date, you may notice that this site had slipped, not an update for months. Partly this was due to me not having an internet connection, partly due to zen-like admiration of walls and partly due to my camera being covered in pot noodles. I had however been doing my best to keep the site current by writing up what I’d been doing in word docs, unfortunately though there was lots of this work and it was in lots of different places, this took some time to get together. As well as this site I also have a couple of others and these needed pulling back into line too, so there goes my weekend along with my week nights.
My Sunday was basically spent getting sites up to date and trying to find the pictures, if available, that went with the site. My pot-noodled camera was away for repair and I wasn’t sure if the SD card had went with it – I seriously doubt this – however whichever safe spot I’d left it in was now a complete mystery to me, so again lots of trawling through computers, lots of digging around for the lost card, all in all not much achieved at all.
Once I did find pictures I found it bewilderingly difficult to post them to this site. The internet, WordPress and pictures just don’t go that easily together, hey I’m pretty good at all this website stuff but WordPress is really not the right tool to use to get pictures up in its raw WordPress form (oops I did miss the Gallery feature). Anyhow I’ve now done my homework and the hours wasted trying to find a dodge to get them onto this site have now been resigned to the lost hours pile as there are plenty of in-post gallery plugins that I could have been using, rather than rattling on in a forlorn hope of cracking a difficult problem.
Pictures still not up, but soon, hopefully some tonight.
The weekend did hold a surprise in a 3-2 victory for Arsenal in the FA Cup final after being down 0-2 to Hull in the first 8 minutes, I think the vernacular is “get-in”.
