Loft legs and attics
I needed to get some work done.
Sandra and Russell, my wonderful sister and her husband were travelling the entire length of the country to give me a hand with the house on Friday. The intention was for them to turn up and help me in shifting some of my boxes of books, albums etc. into the attic. These were many fold and represented tons of “Really Useful” boxes filled to gunnels with ephemera. A major part of this house project had been moving these around and moving the entire stack from upstairs to downstairs had taken me days at one point. These were a major sticking point and the source of bad back and little available space, they needed to be moved into the loft.

Trouble was I hadn’t boarded out the loft at that time.
Double trouble on further inspection the loft insulation was deeper than the joists and this meant either compacting the insulation under the flooring or coming up with a neater solution. Compacting to me wasn’t an option, the insulation was not only essential but really could do with supplementing rather than compressing.
The neat solution presented itself in the form of “Loft Legs” a nifty cheap piece of 175mm plastic leg that one could easily screw down to a joist and then mount a floorboard on top. These seemed a fanciful idea but it soon became apparent that they were a very well adopted solution to such a dilemma and a ToolStation best seller.
Monday came and went with a large investment in portable lights, screws and Loft Legs from the Stockton Toolstation, lots of supplemental loft insulation from B&Q (cheap as chips with my Trade discount) and a holiday card filled in to take Wednesday through Friday as holidays.
